- Red meats and processed meats
Both red meats and processed meats have a purine and nitrate content, chemicals which aggravate pain and inflammation in our bodies. Studies show that both red meats and processed meats, in addition to triggering inflammation, also promote cancer growth.
- Dairy products
Dairy is a highly inflammatory food for the majority of us. Studies show that most adults have some difficulty digesting milk at the least, whether they are aware of this or not. If dairy is a large part of your diet, it can trigger inflammatory responses. For those suffering from joint pain, the best thing is to keep dairy out of your diet.
Most pre-prepared and packaged foods contain an excessive amount of salt and other preservatives so as to enable longer shelf lives. All this refined salt has a high content of additives and chemicals which disrupt the balance of fluids in our bodies. You should pay attention to what is in your food and avoid eating junk food and meals that are microwaveable. Replace table salt with Himalayan sea salt if you need to use salt in cooking.
- Corn oil
Corn oil and other oils high in omega-6 fatty acids are contained in many baked foods and snacks. Studies show that these oils can cause inflammation. You should avoid salad dressings, soy, peanuts and grape seed oil. Instead of these, you can use anti-inflammatory omega-3 oils such as olive oil, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and nuts.
